Reuters is reporting that News Corp.’s MySpace.com has acquired a new technology to prevent users from posting unauthorized copyrighted music on their pages. The Linux Link Tech Show had the excellent opportunity to interview a legend in my eyes. Patrick Volkerding, the founder and maintainer of Slackware Linux. Slackware is known to most as the oldest maintained Linux distribution still alive. Started in 1993, Slackware has continued it’s reputation as the most “UNIX-Like” Linux distribution around. I give many thanks to Mr. Volkerding for keeping Slackware’s philosophy the same throughout the years, which is simplicity and stability. The guys at TLLTS spend a great deal of time speaking with Patrick on various items, including asking questions from the community. It’s a must listen for the true Linux geeks out there.

It raises a very important matter in regards to family safety.

As we all known by now, the popular video sharing site YouTube was acquired by Google for $1.65 billion in stock earlier this month. YouTube’s short lived publicity has been under the microscope of copyright infringement amongst other things, and today, it is sad to say that my most favorite videos on YouTube are now gone.
