If you don’t want your mounted drives to show up on your Ubuntu GNOME desktop, all you need to do is mount them somewhere other than /media/. Here is an example:
mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usbdrive
Cheers!

lol
alt+f2
gconf-editor
apps / nautilus / desktop
unchek volumes_visible
I was kind of looking for this. I want my drives to show on desktop but I don’t want them to be “explored”/opened/poped up when ubuntu is launched.
Got any tip?
got it thanks to Said.
For other newbies:
in gconf-editor go to nautilus>preferences and uncheck “media_automount_open”
Thanks man. It worked for me.
Im using Ubuntu for the very first time in my life. Now I have bot windows and Ubuntu. LOL. Im getting familiar with it.
