Quickzi: Keep mounted drives off the Ubuntu Desktop

If you don’t want your mounted drives to show up on your Ubuntu GNOME desktop, all you need to do is mount them somewhere other than /media/. Here is an example:

mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usbdrive

  1. I was kind of looking for this. I want my drives to show on desktop but I don’t want them to be “explored”/opened/poped up when ubuntu is launched.

    Got any tip?

  2. got it thanks to Said.

    For other newbies:

in gconf-editor go to nautilus>preferences and uncheck “media_automount_open”

  3. Thanks man. It worked for me.
